Taking your dog or cat to Australia
Taking your cat or dog to Australia can be a time consuming and complicated process. At Pets By Plane, our job is to take the strain out of this process for you and let you get on with all the other things you need to do.
If you click on our links, further down the page, to the step by step guides to exporting your cat or dog to you will see how much there is to do before your pet leaves for their new home
The Australian regulations, which changed on 2nd December 2013, are strict and any failure to submit the paperwork correctly or to have incomplete, or out of date, blood tests can result in your pet having an extended stay in quarantine in Australia while the blood tests and paperwork are completed. This could result in extra expense for you.
Some good news is that the standard quarantine period for dogs and cats entering Australia is to be reduced to 10 days (instead of the current 30 days) from 3rd February 2014.
The Perth Quarantine station is now permanently closed so all cats and dogs will need to enter Australia via Melbourne or Sydney and spend their quarantine period there before onward travel to their new home. Don’t forget that we can, through our agents in Australia, arrange the onward journey for you.
